Blues At This Tempo - Sonny Stitt - Our Delight (Vinyl, LP, Album)

Sonny Stitt Sonny Stitt Blows The Blues on g 45RPM 2LP Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound! Sonny Stitt led a number of excellent record dates in , especially at the end of the year when he produced three LPs for Verve over a span of three sessions with pianist Lou Levy, bassist Leroy Vinnegar and drummer Mel Lewis. Playing alto sax throughout this album, Stitt hardly sounds.

The balance was Stitt on alto plus The Oscar Peterson Trio and Herb Ellis. Originally on Verve LP MG, this was reissued on vinyl in the 's and with excessive bonus takes on CD by Polygram/Verve in This import reissue properly cuts back on the bonus takes. Sonny Stitt was often compared to Charlie Parker (or Ornette Coleman)/5(10).

Tracks are almost only in the blues form, apart from an anatoll and a couple of ballads, plus a killer tempo standard (I know that you know), here presented in several takes and false starts. So the track list is simply perfect to increase the knowledge about jazz basics forms, and become familiar with the most common turnarounds/5(9).

12!, an Album by Sonny Stitt. Released in on Muse (catalog no. MR ; Vinyl LP). Genres: Jazz. Featured peformers: Sonny Stitt (alto saxophone, tenor saxophone), Barry Harris (piano), Sam Jones (bass), Louis Hayes (drums), Don Schlitten (producer, design, photography), Paul Goodman (recording engineer), Gary Giddins (liner notes).
